Eric Wood, the Susan Dod Brown Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Director of Princeton University’s Program in Environmental Engineering and Water Resources, and his research team have developed a drought monitoring and forecast system for sub-Saharan Africa. The forecast system was recently reported upon in the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies’ 2013 World Disaster Report that focuses on technology and the future of humanitarian action. It was also summarized briefly in an article posted by Africa green media. Wood’s team included Research Scholar Justin Scheffield and civil and environmental engineering graduate students Nate Chaney and Colby Fisher.
