Call for Proposals: PEI Urban Grand Challenge

The Princeton Environmental Institute is accepting faculty proposals for two-year projects of up to $150,000 for the Urban Grand Challenge program through Friday, June 29, 2018. Part of PEI’s Grand Challenges program, the Urban Challenge combines the study of natural and built environments to address the interrelated environmental and social issues that face the world’s rapidly expanding urban areas in an era of increasing environmental volatility. Research topics include water-resource management, energy efficiency, technological innovation, equity and fairness, race and ethnicity, and intangible notions of belonging.

PEI will give preference to interdisciplinary research that moves the work of Princeton faculty members in new and promising directions, while also engaging students, enhancing Princeton’s educational mission and having a real effect on urban communities. More information, including guidelines for writing and submitting proposals, are available online. Proposals should be submitted using the online application form, and questions can be directed to Funded projects will be announced in September.
