PEI Faculty Seminar: “The New Wilderness”

Jeff Whetstone, Professor of Visual Arts in the Lewis Center for the Arts and PEI associated faculty, presented, “The New Wilderness,” at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, in Guyot Hall, Room 10.

Whetstone drew on film and photographs from his PEI-funded documentary about New Orleans and the Lower Mississippi River, “The Batture Ritual,” to discuss the tense balance between people and landscape — between the wild and the controlled — and depict a natural world from which humans are inextricable. Whetstone was the second speaker in the Fall 2018 PEI Faculty Seminar Series.
