PEI Faculty Seminar: “Sustainable Urban Food Systems and Food Action Planning in the U.S. and India”

 

Anu Ramaswami, Sanjay Swani ’87 Professor of India Studies and professor of civil and environmental engineering, the Princeton Institute for International and Regional Studies, and the Princeton Environmental Institute, presented “Sustainable Urban Food Systems and Food Action Planning in the U.S. and India” at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, in Guyot Hall, Room 10.

An expert in urban systems, Ramaswami described food action plans cities worldwide are developing to ensure a more equitable, climate-resilient, healthy and sustainable local food system. She used examples from the United States and India to highlight emerging urban-systems science that helps identify pathways for achieving these multi-faceted outcomes, as well as uncertainties, challenges and opportunities for transformative action through collaboration between scientists and communities.

Ramaswami was the final speaker in the Fall 2019 PEI Faculty Seminar Series, which was free and open to the public.
