We’ve yet to address coal-based industrialization in developing countries, the intermittency of wind and solar power, uncertainties regarding severe climate change, and the validity of geoengineering. A new academic domain, Destiny Studies, explores humanity’s collective future and asks what accomplishing the “mission” requires.
