PEI Faculty Seminar: “The Geometry of Ecosystems in a Changing World”

Corina Tarnita, associate professor of ecology and evolutionary biology, will present “The Geometry of Ecosystems in a Changing World” at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, in Guyot Hall, Room 10. Tarnita will present her evidence from multiple continents suggesting that natural spatial patterns such as Africa’s mysterious fairy circles are the result of multiple factors operating at various, overlapping spatial scales. These patterns, she concludes, can convey crucial information about ecosystem structure and function, and may even warn of impending collapse.

Tarnita is the first speaker in the Fall 2019 PEI Faculty Seminar Series, which is free and open to the public. Additional speakers and dates in this series are:
