The Importance of Biodiversity

David Wilcove, professor of ecology and evolutionary biology and public affairs and the High Meadows Environmental Institute, and HMEI associated faculty Mary Caswell Stoddard, assistant professor of ecology and evolutionary biology, discuss how a variety of animal and plant life are vital for healthy ecosystems, and for providing humans with food, medicine and protection from climate change. Yet, the loss of species and natural habitats is accelerating due to human activity.

This video is part of a series that premiered during the Princeton Environmental Forum to highlight the environmental research of HMEI (formerly the Princeton Environmental Institute) as it marked its 25th anniversary.
