PEI Faculty Seminar: “The Geometry of Ecosystems in a Changing World” with Corina Tarnita

Corina Tarnita, associate professor of ecology and evolutionary biology, presents “The Geometry of Ecosystems in a Changing World.” Tarnita presents her evidence from multiple continents suggesting that natural spatial patterns such as Africa’s mysterious fairy circles are the result of multiple factors operating at various, overlapping spatial scales. These patterns, she concludes, can convey crucial information about ecosystem structure and function, and may even warn of impending collapse.
